CO-PRODUCED WITH NØRREGAARDS TEATER
TO BEE HAVING OR NOT is grand, existential children’s theatre disguised in humble simplicity. A wanderer lies beside a beehive, his hat pulled low over his eyes. The children whisper, “We’re here to see a play,” subtly making it clear that he is very much in the way. He lifts the brim of his hat and observes them silently with one eye. Slowly, deliberately, he rises to his feet, opens the hive’s entrance, and begins a calm, wordless morning ritual of washing and shaving.
As he moves with precision and presence, the children become co-creators — first as observers, then as conversational partners in a shared moment of curiosity and anticipation. What begins as a silent monologue transforms into an intimate, human dialogue between performer and audience.
TO BEE HAVING OR NOT reveals how powerful theatre can be when it rests in slowness, attention, and trust.

“This reviewer is practically fizzing with theatrical joy. Because how wonderful it is to feel how theatre still captivates—when running in the lowest gear. That one can hold a group of kids spellbound through a morning shave, without saying a word, simply by being engaging and present”
